PROGNOSE ZUM SPIEL England - France 18.06 21:00

Beide Teams erzielen ein Tor - Ja
GEWINN 1.81

The 2019 UEFA European U-21 Championship has started in Italy on June 16. The teams of the group C will get underway with two Tuesday opening games. In one of them England will meet France at Stadio Dino Manuzzi in Cesena. Will they score to each other?

England U21

The last time England won the European U-21 Championships in 1984. In 2017, Aydi Boothroyd’s team was as close as possible to repeat the success, but his guys were eliminated from the semifinal stage by losing to the Germans after the penalty kicks. Then the «inventors of football» exceeded the expectations of experts and bookmakers, so it is not surprising that Boothroyd prolonged the contract with the Association. Actually some people from that team are still in the roster: Angus Gunn (“Southampton”), Tammy Abraham (“Chelsea”) and Demarai Gray (“Leicester”).

If we compare the roster by star level, then the current Boothroyd’s roster looks stronger than the analogue of two years ago. The English Premier League’s fans should know such players as Ryan Sessegnon (“Fulham”), James Maddison (“Leicester”), Phil Foden (“Manchester City”), Aaron Wan-Bissaka (“Crystal Palace”), Dominic Solanke ("Bournemouth") and Dominic Calvert-Lewin ("Everton").

England competed against strong rivals in the qualifying stage and made the Netherlands and Ukraine to leave the tournament. Boothroyd’s guys did not lose in the qualifiers and conceded an average of 0.4 goals per game. The English defensive line was the most reliable among all teams.

France U21

The star roster is not always a guarantee of successful performance at a tournament. The players of the French U-20, who have been sensationally eliminated by the USA U-20 from the round of 16, can tell about this to their friends from the French U-21. The U-21 team, led by Sylvain Ripoll, should take the lesson as edification and his roster is really chic. What to talk about, if such performers as Mukhtar Diakabi (“Valencia”), Allain Saint-Maximin (“Nice”) and Maxim Lopez (“Marcel”) did not be called up, and the Leipzig forward Jean-Kevin Augustin did not be invited to the extended roster. And even the injury of the national team’s captain Abdou Diallo (Borussia  Dortmund) does not reduce the potential of the team.

Olympique Lyonnais has the largest representation in the youth team: Houssem Aouar, Moussa Dembélé, Lucas Toussart. Also we note two central defenders from Leipzig Ibrahima Konate - Dayo Upamecano.  Matteo Gouendouzi from Arsenal will lead the game from the middle line. With such a choice of players, France never lost in the qualifiers and had 90% of victories.

All the last four friendly games of the English side ended with both teams to score (yes). This calendar year France U21 played twice with both teams to score (yes).

Prediction

The bookmakers did not define the favorite of this opener. Both sides have a lot of aggressive forwards in their rosters. We expect these guys will score tonight.

The odds are valid at the moment of the prediction publication.
